Internet café plies trade as illegal casino

The online gambling industry is going through the stages of trying to position itself as a reputable market sector that will bring benefits and advantages to those that invest in it. This is certainly what it has done for companies in Europe and Asia but of course there are social concerns that go with the online gambling format in the same way that they are present with the more traditional format of land based gambling. It is clear that there is a lot of work that needs to be done to educate people as to the means and ways possible to address the concerns that they have.

There is a perception that because the online world is so easy to access and that someone can just take part in online gambling in the comfort of their own home, that this is going to mean that they are all the more likely to have a gambling problem. This is simply not the case and there are a number of well respected academics who have said as much and have indicated that there is no greater danger of someone developing an addiction to gambling if they take part in the online format of the past time as opposed to the traditional format.

Despite these assurances that industry analysts are able to give people however, there is a real issue when the news media reports on the fact that there are arrests being made as a result of illegal online gambling. This is the case with an internet café where a number of arrests were recently made due to the fact that the owners of the facility were allowing people to take part in online gambling. There were a number of games that people were playing including black jack, keno, craps and others.

Now some would argue that the reason that operations such as this have flourished is because there is a complete lack of regulation at the moment and this means that there is no regulatory frame work in which people know how to act. By simply making something illegal and banning it, this does not mean that people are going to stop. With a regulatory frame work in place, this means that there is a much better chance that people will be aware of their rights and obligations and that they will know how they should be acting.
