Two casinos in Connecticut show the value of cooperation

The state of Connecticut is world renowned for its beautiful forests which make an incredible impression during autumn with the most fantastic colors of gold and red and russet brown. It truly is a spectacle and the state benefits from the tourist dollars that are spent by visitors on what for many is an annual pilgrimage to see this sight. This is not the only source of income for the state though, it has also enjoyed the benefits of having gambling in its territory. These revenues have been very welcome during the economic crisis and the impact that this has had on state budgets.

But now there are fears that this could be threatened by other states that are in the process of considering the past time of gambling as a means to generate revenues for themselves. The state of Connecticut fears that Massachusetts might be doing just this and there are now high stakes involved if this state does enter the gambling industry as this would mean competition and that its citizens would no longer visit Connecticut casinos.

The need for survival has seen two former rivals unite in aid of preserving the state’s gambling interests. The Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos have decided to take the otherwise unlikely step of cooperation in order to safe guard their revenues. The casinos are normally tough competitors and this is especially true given that they are located a mere seven miles apart from each other. The casinos have targeted New York and New Jersey in efforts to attract a new client base from these states. There are already high levels of competition coming from these markets which in the case of Atlantic City have seen big decreases in revenue.

It could be said that this advertising campaign is a bit of a gamble itself as the markets that these casinos are targeting have their own casinos and these are already not doing very well. It would seem that there is not really likely to be a reason why those players that have decided not to go to their own casinos would want to travel to another state to take part in the same activity. The casinos will really have to put something out there that is a very compelling prospect and this is definitely why the two of them have combined forces. They are out to prove the adage that two heads are better than one.
